Oh, was I speeding?
It happens. If you drive, you occasionally exceed the posted speed limits. JML Audio’s laser and radar detector solutions offer a highly integrated and intuitive method to add safety, while simultaneously reducing the probability of speeding and red light camera violations. We offer only the best, most accurate products for laser and radar detection warning. In addition, our expert installation and calibration using radar and laser speed detection devices just like law enforcement use means we can install very effective speed detection warning systems that will ultimately heighten a driver’s awareness of their speed. It all combines to reduce tickets and increase driver safety.
Radar Detectors
Many recognize the term ‘radar’ as the common method with which law enforcement captures vehicle speed. It’s not a new technology; however there are new developments in speed detection radar that all products and installation techniques do not address. All of the solutions we offer at JML Audio utilize remote mounted sensors and visual displays so that the radar detection warning is not suction cup mounted to your windshield. In addition there are audible warning options that increase the warning’s effectiveness. This all reduces the chance for theft and increases the usefulness of the warning system because it never changes position once we calibrate it. We can often install warning lights in specifically ‘stealthy’ locations so that, to the untrained eye, the radar detector warning system is virtually invisible.
- Frequency: There are several frequencies on which radar speed detection operates. Each state and county may utilize different frequencies and a radar detection warning system should cover those frequencies. However, some frequencies are also common with other day-to-day uses such as the automated entry doors in many grocery stores. The key is to have radar detection that knows when the warning is law enforcement and to provide the warning long before they see you. All of the systems we offer cover the full-spectrum of frequencies. Our calibration and high-accuracy radar detection warning systems make the warnings easy to understand and react accordingly.
- Distance: Radar detection warning is important to have an early enough warning to slow down (whether for speeding or a red light camera); however too late or too early a warning can be a hazard. At JML Audio our ability to calibrate the positioning of remote mounted sensors instead of a windshield mounted device ensures we optimize the distance of detection and driver warning. In addition, systems with both front and rear sensors are assured a much better coverage of radar threats approaching from behind.
- Duration: One of the newest forms of radar speed detection by law enforcement is called POP mode. This emits a short burst of radar energy (under 1 second) and immediately goes into standby mode, often making some radar detection warning systems unable to detect the POP mode radar. All of the solutions we offer at JML Audio cover POP mode radar systems with a high degree of accuracy.
Laser Detection
Laser detection differs from radar in that it requires a visual identification of the prospective speeding vehicle, and then the officer aims the laser speed detection device at the vehicle. The laser is a highly focused beam that must be very accurate at close distance, but has a wider ‘footprint’ at a quarter-mile (about 3 feet across the front of the vehicle). Thus, the importance of laser detection is that critical quarter-mile or less between visual ID and using the laser speed detection. All of the laser speed detection solutions we offer at JML Audio can be added to our radar detection systems. They also use remotely mounted sensors and require the requisite calibration, which we do during your installation. This ensures the most comprehensive warning probability within the critical time between sighting and laser utilization by law enforcement. For our clients, the peace of mind is that our knowledgeable System Design Consultants can easily show you the options and assess your risk for laser speed detection.
Laser Diffuser
In addition to simply warning of laser speed detection systems, we also install laser diffusion systems to circumvent the effective target area to which law enforcement systems can ‘lock on’ at the front of the vehicle. Like the laser warning systems, these can be added onto one of our radar detection warning systems. These diffusers are completely legal and offer added protection for that critical window of time between when law enforcement has visual identification and triggers their laser detection. We can create custom mounting positions for these behind air dams, grilles or intakes, or integrate them into a front license plate – which is the target area generally used by law enforcement. Our System Design Consultants are able to demonstrate your variety of options.
An Investment that Pays Dividends
When all the factors are considered, an investment in comprehensive, calibrated radar and laser speed detection warning system is something that pays dividends each time it warns you. The increased cost of insurance and the fines for speeding is far too costly and has serious implications on your driving record. Why not let the System Design Consultants at JML Audio in St. Louis show you some of the tastefully integrated (and often hidden) options for the most effective radar and laser speed detection products so that your next drive has the peace of mind to enjoy the road instead of being distracted looking for law enforcement. It’s smart. It’s safe. It’s a good investment.
