Huntleigh Lamborghini Client Updates Murcielago Stereo

A repeat client from Huntleigh, Missouri, came to JML Audio of St. Louis with a beautiful, lime-green 2007 Lamborghini Murcielago. He was looking to upgrade the Murcielago stereo system and improve the electronics and technology. We set up a time for a consultation where the client could bring the vehicle to our facility.

This is a normal part of the sales process for JML, and it is central to how we work. We view everyone as a client and feel they all deserve one-on-one time so we can get to know them better and explore their vehicle with them. As we get to know the client better, we ask questions to help us understand the goals for this project. We figure out what someone likes and doesn’t like about the vehicle. We explore new technologies, offering them up in straightforward language.

Once the consultation is over, we take all of information we’ve gathered and use it to design the best solution for the client. We make a proposal to the client and reserve an installation date when it is accepted.

Kenwood Navigation Unit Serves As Media Hub For This Murcielago Stereo

Voice control of the Kenwood radio is now just a push of a button away.

For easiest access to the switch we needed to modify the center console top was removed from the vehicle.

With the circuit assembly reassembled, we routed the wire for the switch out of an existing hole.

To mount the button for the voice control we had to find a blank spot on the circuit board under the switches, and mount the button in the precise spot.

The radio gives the client full control of his smart phone media.

Our modifications to the switch are completely stock looking.

For this particular vehicle, we determined that the best course of action was to replace the existing in-dash stereo system in favor of a modern touchscreen Kenwood navigation unit. The client now gained several great benefits, including iPod control and Bluetooth for hands-free calling. An amazing feature of this radio is the ability to control the radio by voice.  We were able to modify an unused button in the center console as the activation switch for the voice command. Early on in the conversation, we realized that this client loved full-bodied music and that he was fine with modifications being made to his vehicle as long as they looked like factory options.

Something very important to note about a vehicle as special as a Lamborghini is that every interior part of this vehicle is a one-off creation. If a shop breaks a door panel, you don’t go down to the Lamborghini dealer and pick up a new one. The dealer has to order it from Italy, the factory makes one door panel just for you and the process takes months. That single door panel can also run to thousands of dollars. We’re mentioning this so you know that we pay attention to the detail needed to protect every part of a vehicle like this while we are working on it. What makes our approach even more special is that, if you own a Ford, where replacement parts are easy to come by, we will give your vehicle the same care as we did for this Lamborghini. That is the JML way. We treat every client and vehicle with the same special care, no matter what you drive.

Custom Fit Subwoofer Enclosure For A Factory Look

Preparation before fiberglassing is vital to ensure that none of the vehicle surfaces are marred or damaged.

Every precaution is taken to protect the vehicle. Some would call this overkill, we call it the JML Audio way.

With the initial forming complete the enclosure is placed back in the car for more detailed fitting.

After the final fitting, the enclosure is final sanded and now ready to be wrapped in leather.

It is hard to tell that the enclosure is not a factory piece.

If Lamborghini were to offer a subwoofer upgrade it would most likely look just like this beauty!

Care was taken to make sure the enclosure took up minimal space in the cabin. The passenger seat is still able to have plenty of travel.

For this project, our install team chose to fabricate a fiberglass subwoofer enclosure that fit perfectly behind the passenger seat in the vehicle. In the pictures, you will see how we created a mold of the cavity behind the seat so we could extract as much space as possible while giving the passenger all the leg room needed. The cover panel for the subwoofer is of factory-matched leather, and we flushed the grille perfectly with the cover panel, giving it a factory appearance.

Securely Mounted Amplifier Gets Metal Mounting Frame And Custom Trim Cover

The amplifier is securely mounted on a fabricated metal frame. All wiring is neatly routed and secured.

We drew upon the design lines of the front trunk to come up with the cutout shape for the amplifier beauty panel.

The lighting and Lamborghini logo give this installation a special look.

Now, if you have a subwoofer, you need an amplifier. In a Murcielago, though, space is at a premium. We chose to fabricate a custom amplifier rack in the front trunk of the vehicle, and standard operating procedure for us is to fabricate a custom metal structure to hold the amplifier. By doing this, we can bolt the amplifier securely into place. Many shops use wood to mount their amplifiers, but we figure if metal is used to build the vehicle, then metal is the best choice to hold the amplifier. This is another defining difference in the way JML Audio performs an installation.

If you look closely at the trim panel we made for the amplifier, you will notice it is an inverted design of the trunk opening itself. We fabricated a custom acrylic Lamborghini logo to fit on top of the trim panel, and used green accent lighting to give it the finishing touch.
