One of the most common questions we get at JML Audio is “Why does my car audio upgrade proposal only have two channels?” That is a very good question, and one that we think helps define who we are as a company.
First and foremost, we are an audio company. It is part of our name. We are passionate about music, and we look forward to any opportunity to hear it live, so everything we do revolves around recreating the best musical experience you have ever had. Many people think that, if you want to listen to a great-sounding audio system, you have to do it in your home. To those people, we say, “You have never heard a JML Audio vehicle.”
Most People Spend Quite A Bit Of Time In Their Vehicles
Let’s be realistic for a minute. How many hours a week do you spend in your vehicle? Five, 10 or even more, right? Now, how many hours a week do you sit in your house listening to your music? Chances are, you spend much more time in your vehicle.
Let’s take this a step further. Does listening to your music improve your mood? Does it help you relax, or even forget about all of life’s burdens? It surely does for us. If you agree with us on any of this, then you are a prime client for JML Audio. We live to give every client a car audio system that will rival some of the finest home audio gear, and do it in an environment where you will undoubtedly spend several hours every week.
Two-Channel Audio For The Most Realistic Sound
Now let’s talk about achieving that sound quality. That means talking about two-channel audio and rear speakers.
You do not need more than two channels of audio to give you great sound in your vehicle. In fact, when your music was originally recorded in the studio and mixed down into a “master,” it was in two channels. (For readers who are truly high-end audiophiles, please give us a pass on the rare, multi-channel recordings. We all know they are few and far between.) To make matters even more interesting, adding more than two channels will cost you more money and result in music that does not sound as good. That’s right: By having us build you a two-channel audio system, you will spend less money and get better sound.
When you go to a concert, where is the sound coming from? In front of you, right? If you ever have the opportunity to hear a completely acoustical set or a symphony, that sound is in front of you, too. Here is reality: The only thing that rear speakers in your vehicle are going to do for you is give sound to the rear seat passengers at a lower level than having them listen to your front speakers. That is it. Nothing else. Vehicle manufacturers have been adding multiple rear speakers to vehicles because a 12-speaker system from Company A sounds more impressive than a five-speaker system from Company B. Factory-installed car audio systems are designed to sell cars. Period. End of story.
What A Two-Channel Audio System From JML Audio Looks Like
Let’s explore a typical audio upgrade at JML Audio. Once our team has run audio diagnostics on your factory-installed car audio system, we can determine the best course of action to extract the very best sound quality. It will involve what is called a processor, and you can click HERE to read about these in more depth. Once we have a good-quality musical signal, we will install a set of high-quality component speakers in the front of your vehicle that includes a woofer and a tweeter. These four speakers will reproduce all of your sound except the lowest octaves of music. Our team will install a subwoofer to handle the bass. And that is it.
Can it really be that simple? Why, yes, it can. There’ more, too: Since we don’t have to install two sets of speakers (one set for the front and one set for the rear), you have more money to allocate to the front speakers. Since you aren’t spending on the labor to install rear speakers, you have yet more money to allocate for a better installation on the front.
Our Expert Tuning Ability Sets Us Apart
Finally, once our award-winning team has finished the installation, we begin the tuning process. This is another area that separates us from our competition. JML spends lots and lots of time on fine-tuning your new audio system to extract every last nuance from the music. We have seen systems improve in sound quality by 50% by taking the time to fine-tune it. Isn’t that what you wanted in the first place?
When it comes time to deliver your completed audio system back to you, here is what you can expect: a system that does not have sound coming from the rear of the vehicle. You will not experience sound that is biased to the driver’s door. You will experience sound that stages across the front of the vehicle. You will be able to close your eyes and think that the vocalist is right in front of you (of course, you’ll only do that when stopped or parked!). You will notice where the drummer is sitting and where the guitarist is standing. Our systems truly make the music come alive. That brings us back to hearing live music — two-channel audio systems are the best way to get that intimate, accurate sound in your vehicle.
We invite you to contact us at JML Audio. Let’s set up an audio consultation for you to bring your vehicle by and get to know us better. You can sit in one of our clients’ vehicles and experience a great-sounding two-channel car audio system. After looking over your vehicle with you and learning about your goals for the upgrade, we will design an audio system for you that fits your unique needs.
